Enter Your Wines in National Competitions.

Each year, many home wine making competitions are held across the country. We are proud of the wines that come out of our Vintner's Circle shops, and we encourage our customers to enter their homemade wines in various national competitions. (Our President, David Schmeltzle, has won a few medals himself!) Our customers have brought home several medals. Find out how you can submit your wine today!

We submit wines to competitions like:
  • The International Wine Competition (INDY). The INDY is one of the largest independent wine competitions in the United States. More than 3,000 wines are submitted each year, each bottle judged on its appearance, aroma, taste, and aftertaste.
  • The Annual Amateur Wine Makers Competition (AWCI). The AWCI takes place each spring at Alto Vineyards, Illinois. The AWCI is one of the largest wine competitions in the Midwest; wines are evaluated based on the classic UC Davis 20 Point System, which includes factors such as clarity, color, aroma, bouquet, and taste.
  • WineMaker International Amateur Wine Competition. WineMaker Magazine holds its wine making competition annually, the largest amateur wine competition in the world. More than 4,000 wines were submitted in 2010, from eight countries across the globe. Wines are judged on their appearance, aroma, taste, aftertaste, and overall impression.
