Valpolicella is a wine-growing region in Verona, a province in the north of Italy. Many wines come from Valpolicella (including Amarone della Valpolicella); the basic red wine from the region is simply known as Valpolicella. The wine is made up of three grapes: Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Molinara; the wine is light, fragrant, and can be drunk soon after bottling. The term “Classico” means that wine growers must adhere to stricter rules, which means “Classico” grapes are of higher quality, with more intense flavors and aromas.

Valpolicella Ripasso is wine that has been macerated with leftover grape skins and seeds. This gives the wine an extra boost, in flavor, texture, and color; the process also raises the wine’s alcohol content. “Ripasso” translates to “repassed” – the leftover grapes have been re-passed through another batch of wine.
