Shiraz-Zinfandel is a blend of two grapes: Shiraz (also known as Syrah) and Zinfandel. These are two grapes that, though originally from Europe, have had major success in the New World, in countries like the United States and Australia. Shiraz is a robust wine with a lot of spice; Zinfandel makes a wine with intense fruit flavors, and usually a high alcohol content. Together, the grapes make a blend that is full-bodied and intensely fruity, with aromas of raspberry, blackberry, anise, and pepper.
