These are two grapes that, though originally from Europe, have had major success in the New World, in countries like the United States and Australia. Shiraz is a robust wine with a lot of spice; Zinfandel makes a wine with intense fruit flavors, and usually a high alcohol content. Together, the grapes make a blend that is full-bodied and intensely fruity, with aromas of raspberry, blackberry, anise, and pepper.
