Merlot is one of the world’s most famous grapes; though originally from the Bordeaux region in France, the grape is grown, harvested, and drunk worldwide. Merlot is a grape with a moderate amount of tannins; this means the resulting wine has a soft, velvety feel in your mouth. Merlot is has flavors and aromas of rose, blackcurrants, and plums. It is a grape that both works well as a varietal, and wonderfully in blends.
