Color: Red Is Great With: beef and lamb dishes; fondue; Croque monsieur or madame; hamburgers Sweetness: Dry Body: Medium-Full Cabernet-Merlot-Cabernet Franc is a blend of three different grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc), all originally from the Bordeaux region of France. This triplet has made some of the world’s greatest (and most expensive) wines. In California, the blend is called Meritage (rhymes with “heritage”). Cabernet Sauvignon provides the structural tannins for an age-worthy wine, Merlot smoothes out the wine’s texture, and Cabernet Franc adds spice to the mixture. This blend features aromas of blackcurrant, chocolate and green pepper.
