Barbaresco comes from the Piedmont region of Italy, which lies in the northwestern area of the country (not far from Milan), under the shadow of the Alpine Mountains. Barbaresco is a powerful wine, with intense aromas of cherry, violets, roses, and licorice. Though Barbaresco has strong tannins, it is an elegant wine, and pairs well with food.
