Poems for Mom

Poetry is a unique way to show appreciation to your Mom. And, Robert Louis Stevenson, in his poem, certainly captures a sentiment to which we all can relate. But, for those of us not quite as eloquent with a pen, the Scottish poet, novelist and essayist has inadvertently given us an alternative solution in his quotation: “Wine is bottled poetry.”

Wines – like poetry and Moms – have different characteristics. Some are light and lilting like a crisp Pinot Grigio or Verdicchio. Others are deep, full and have a lingering effect like a Cabernet Sauvignon or Italian Barolo. Others, like a delicate Pinot Noir or French Chardonnay, may lend themselves to more intimate occasions. There are sweet choices like ice wines, soothing selections such as Merlot, and spicy options like Zinfandel.
