Red wines account for 55 percent of all wine sales in US restaurants.
We associate Bordeaux with red wine, and, indeed, approximately 85 percent of the land today is reserved for red wine production. However, the region was originally known for its whites.

Beaujolais, a light-bodied red that is fermented for only a few weeks and ready to drink immediately, was created to celebrate the end of the harvest season. Today, restrictions prohibit the sale of Beaujolais until the third Thursday in November.
White wine removes red wine stains. Apparently, if you apply white wine to a red wine stain and put some salt over it for several minutes before gently rubbing the stained area, the red wine stain will start to fade.
